We will dive into Autophagy (self-eating) and apoptosis (program cell death). I will take you through the practice of cyclical ketosis, the process of throwing yourself in and out. Ketosis, fasting, and refeeding, with the right nutrition all under the light of the sun.
Autophagy is often referred to as the body’s mechanism for turning back the clock and creating younger cells because of its anti-aging effects. Autophagy protects us when our cells are stressed, enhancing our lifespan. During Autophagy, which often occurs through fasting, the body identifies damaged or dysfunctional components within cells and removes them. These components are then recycled to support cellular repair and regeneration. Researchers are exploring the possibility that Autophagy may lower the risk of cancer and may also remove toxic proteins associated with neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.
There are cells in our body that become damaged beyond repair. They resist the body’s signal to die and wreak havoc by releasing chemicals that damage healthy tissue and trigger inflammation. Apoptosis is the process that kills off these damaged cells, commonly known as zombie cells.
